Production

Link to my documentary

Where I first started to edit together my documentary, I watched back all the footage I had from the interviews and created different bins for each question I had asked my interviewees. This helped me to piece together the final product as I was able to pick relevant answers, and it all ended up flowing well. This also saved me a lot of time as I didn't have to constantly go through everyone's interviews; I could just watch snippets of each one and decide where I wanted to put it etc.

I then had to find a song that fitted well with the theme, so I found a royalty free one on YouTube to avoid any copy right issues. The song play continuously throughout as well as the interviews, voice overs and archival footage. I then looked for some archival footage to include in the piece and thought about placement of it as well as length shown, as I wanted to ensure I left it long enough on the screen for people to read it properly without having to pause the video and ruin the overall flow and feel of the piece.

Throughout the editing process I changed around a few clips, and even completely removed some as they were either out of place or didn't really fit with the theme well. I wanted to make sure that all clips were relevant and could be used as useful information.
